In 2022, the Information Center for Foreigners team was actively involved in activities related to the sudden outbreak of war in Ukraine and refugees arriving in Szczecin. We met with at least 800 people. Many of these meetings were telephone advice and e-mail support.
Refugees turned to us with everyday problems. A safe place of residence, access to free health care, legalization of care for minors who came to Szczecin without legal guardians, information on access to education, learning the Polish language and looking for a job – these are examples of issues we helped to resolve.
The city of Szczecin is a friendly place not only for war refugees. We met with the problems of foreigners coming from distant Asian countries, from England, South Africa and the United States.
